Last month I bought the new Anastasia 'Soft Glam' eyeshadow palette. Since then, I have been testing out all of the shadows so that I can give my review on the palette. In this post I'll talk about the packaging, shadows, and give my opinion on the palette itself, enjoy!
First thing I have to talk about is how cute the packaging of this palette is. The outside is a tan velvet, similar to the packing of other Anastasia palettes. I know a lot of people have problems with the velvet packaging that Anastasia uses, since shadows and other powders can sometimes stick to it, but I personally haven't had any problems with that yet. The mirror is good, it's big enough that you could use it for traveling or even on the go. This palette also comes with a double sided eyeshadow brush, which I found to work okay. The blending side of the brush feels a little cheap and flimsy, but it still blends well. I cleaned the brush before using it and it held up great. Overall the packaging is simplistic, but still very cute.
The formula for these shadows is amazing. I have found all the shades to be pigmented, long lasting, and easy to blend. The formula is similar to the Modern Renaissance palette, and even includes some of the same shades, like Burnt Orange and Cyprus Umber. I am not normally a fan of shimmer and glitter eyeshadows, but the ones in this palette are amazing and very easy to use. One of my few complaints with this palette is that the shades Fairy and Bronze are somewhat similar. Both shades are golden shimmers, but Bronze is a slightly darker color and more metallic looking on the eye. If I could change one thing about this palette it would be to put in a different shade in place of one of these golden shades, since they are similar.
Since these shadows are so easy to blend, I would say this is a very beginner friendly palette. If you are new to makeup, I would recommend this palette over any of the other palettes Anastasia offers, since this one has the most neutral shade selection. I'm really glad that Anastasia came out with a palette with this color selection, but for those more experienced in makeup, you may already have shades similar to these in your collection. Several shades that are in this palette are sold as singles, and like I mentioned before, two of the shades are in the Modern Renaissance. Because of this, I would say this palette is better for people either new to makeup, or people who don't have a large eyeshadow collection, since many shades in this palette are very common. I personally love this palette, if you love these shades or feel that they are missing from your collection, I would highly recommend it.
